The Amadeus Chamber Choir was established 26 years ago, since then many choristers joined and left, which have introduced new ideas. With the younger generation came the inception of our Facebook page together with the launching of our website. The difference in age however still keeps us very united, we’re practically family.
The choir organises various concerts during the year. The first being the Passion tide concert. It was the first time we incorporated our music and a pageant. We did this with the Tarxien Pageant group. Throughout the years we have had various achievements beyond our shores. This year our overseas appointment took us to Spain, Madrid to be precise. The choir participated during a Mass and concert at the Almudena Cathedral and we also performed a concert at the Parroquia di San Cristobal and San Raffael in aid of a Spanish charity, the Madre Corajae.
‘A Prelude to Christmas’ is synonymous with the Amadeus Chamber Choir, which was the first choir in Malta to introduce concert for Christmas. This is the 26th time we’re doing our famous ‘A Prelude to Christmas’ and i do believe its special this year. Christmas is a time for giving, and every year we ensure that we do this concert in aid of a philanthropic institute. This year we decided to collaborate with Id-Dar tal-Providenza, an important charitable institution for the maltese society i believe.
We have new voices this year! We kept the voices we are renowned for and are giving younger voices and opportunity to show case their talents.Soloists are going to start from the tender age of 12.
This year’s programme included classical Christmas carols and modern music and unexpected rhythms together with a 32 piece orchestra, we will also have a special guests, the Marsa scouts pipes and drums. St. Mary’s children’s choir will participate again this year.
A concert like this takes time, and a lot of hard work especially gathering sponsors for this event, as well as preparing designs for posters, tickets and programs. Rehearsals start very early in the year. This years concert will take you through musical journey into the maestro’s vision. It goes without saying that without the joint effort of people from the choir and the hard work they put into it, such event is not possible. However, the end result is always a success. We choristers express our joy in music. We look forward to see the people smiling to our Christmas music. Lastly, we together as the Amadeus Chamber Choir thank our director Brian Cefai for his hard work.
